Sports Medicine

Sports medicine is a highly specialised field of medicine that has undergone exceptional development during the past few years. Advances in diagnostic imaging, high quality clinical trials and changes to treatment strategies have revolutionised both treatment and results. At the Broadgate Spine & Joint Clinic our team is led by Dr Ian Beasley and Mr Peter Hamlyn, both nationally known experts in this area of medicine. The team also includes our physiotherapists, chiropractors, podiatrist and medical acupuncturist.

The clinic has fully equipped gym and assessment facilities.

Mr Peter Hamlyn, Consultant Spine and Neurosurgeon - spinal conditions.

Mr Peter Hamlyn is a Consultant and Neurological Spinal Surgeon to the St Bartholomew's and Royal London NHS Trust. He is Vice-Chairman of the UK Brain and Spine Foundation. Since 2002 he has been Director of the Sports and Exercise Medicine at the Queen Mary, University of London. Mr Hamlyn has published extensively including both text books and scientific papers. Mr Hamlyn was actively involved as a medical advisor for the successful London bid for the 2012 Olympics. Mr Hamlyn is a founding director of the Broadgate Spine & Joint Clinic.

Dr Ian Beasley, Consultant Sports Medicine Specialist - sports injuries.

Dr Beasley qualified from St Bartholomews Hospital, London in 1982. He won a scholarship to study Sports Medicine, gaining a diploma in 1987. He worked at various football clubs and was appointed as team physician of Arsenal Football Club in 2002. He is also the medical advisor to the Royal Ballet Company, Covent Garden. He is a founding fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine. In conjunction with the other members of our experienced staff at the Broadgate Spine & Joint Clinic, a superior service in the diagnosis and treatment of sports related injuries is provided.
